Through the years she and her family have had a Guest Ranch, Bed and Breakfast, vineyard, Christmas tree farm, ostrich farm, and cattle ranch.

She was Statewide Director of Keep Colorado Beautiful 1965-1978 winning three National Awards from Keep America Beautiful and four state awards for teaching and implementing programs in litter prevention, conservation of natural resources, and beautification. Coordinated volunteer programs in cities and towns across Colorado.

From 1980-1990 Beverly was Regional Director of Women In Community Service covering four states, California, Arizona, Nevada and Hawaii with 36 paid staff and more than 400 volunteers. WICS had a contract with the Department of Labor to recruit young men and women into Job Corps, which is a residential vocational training program for low income youth.

She won the national recruitment award in 1986. Both of these positions entailed fund raising, grant writing, hiring and training staff and volunteers, making presentations, implementing innovative programs, organizing meetings and conferences, goal setting, publicity, and record keeping.

Since retiring and returning to Colorado she has led a community wide effort to stop a large development project near Chatfield State Park and the South Platte River that would have put condos right along the Platte which is the only urban river with a walking path in the Metro area.

The organization reduced the number of homes from 600 to 324 and pushed the developers to realign the road for safety, and remove the condos from the river view.

She has volunteered at a local grade school, the Town Hall Theatre, and the food bank at a nearby Denver-area church.

Beverly’s husband Jack retired from MK Ferguson as Senior Staff Engineer in 1985 and was Chief Mechanical Facilities Engineer at Martin Co. (now Lockheed Martin) in Littleton, CO for 22 years. His health only allows him to take a small part in the renovation.
